Is the story “Tell Tale Heart” Appropriate for our age group? Some may think it is not appropriate for thirteen and fourteen year olds. They might say it's too scary or too violent for young readers like us. The story is a great way for young readers to learn about horror. The “Tell Tale Heart” is a way for students to use their reading skills.
Both versions of the short story have their similarities and differences, while using suspense devices to make each version thrilling and exciting. However, the overall superior version was the film clip because of the visual representation
The animated video gave the best representation of the story "The Tell Tale Heart." Because in the animated video there is the same dialogue from the story, even though the live action video had the same dialogue, the actor seemed like he was trying forcing himself to act. But the voice actor in the animated video seemed like he was the true character. The eye was blue in the animated video and in the live action video the eye looked red or brown color. During the eighth night he jumped up and stayed sitting up,while in the live action he didn't jump, neither did he sit up. In the animated and live action the old man dies, but the animated version showed how the all man died once again the live action version failed at that as well.
The Tell-Tale Heart: Indirect Characterization In the excerpt “from The Tell-Tale Heart,” Edgar Allen Poe creates the conflicted character of an unnamed narrator through indirect characterization. Using the components of Action, what others say, and character’s internal thoughts, Poe portrays a story about insanity and reveals the conflicted and even insane thoughts and emotions going on in the character’s head. Poe uses Action as a component of indirect characterization to depict the meaning of the poem in many instances.
The man accused of murder has confessed to the crime and led the police straight to the mutilated body of his victim. On the night of murder, the narrator killed the old man by suppressing him with a bed and suffocating him to death. He was vexed by the old man’s “evil eye” which motivated the narrator to murder the old man. In spite of the evidence proving that the murderer is insane, he is clearly sane and should be accused guilty. Primarily, the murderer explained the process of murder, he was describing all the little details that an insane person would not have remembered.
Rather than writing a story of love, Edgar Allan Poe took a heart, typically a symbol of love, and created “The Tell-Tale Heart”, a twisted and dark story of a heart with ever-changing moods. First, the text says “It took me an hour to place my whole head within the opening. . .” (79). It also says, “Upon the eighth night, I was more than usually cautious in opening the door” (79). With these two quotes, the author of the story creates a mood of anxiety by describing how cautiously the narrator put his head through the door.
A sick thought can devour the mind and body like a silent fever and just when you realize you have it will be too late. Edgar Allan Poe has written many great pieces of literature in his life time. There is one text that stroke a cord with me, because of the way Poe illustrates the narrator’s madness. In his story Tell-tale Heart, the narrator kills an old man because of his eye. The narrator is mentally ill because he was able to tell the story so calmly, he only killed the old man to get rid of his eye, also he stalked the old man till he felt like the right time to kill him.
To begin with, The Narrator is insane and unreliable. He states someone as intelligent and through as him could not have possibly “proceeded with what caution, foresight, and dissimulation” (Poe 303) as he did in his
“I've heard many things in the heaven and in the earth. I've heard many things in hell”(Poe). In the story The tell tale heart, a man ends up killing his old man over his “Vulture eye”. He loved the old man. But his “evil eye” vexed him and he decided to take his life.

Using the components of character motivation, internal thoughts, and actions, Poe portrays a story about deception and reveals the feelings of superiority, and ultimately guilt, that is invoked by the pretense of innocence. The narrator’s motivations can be identified through his internal thoughts and his actions. For example, both components are recognized when the narrator says “while I myself, in the wild audacity of my perfect triumph, placed my own seat upon the very spot beneath which reposed the corpse of the victim.”
There are times in life where people do commit a small mistake, or a huge crime, but what really matters is if one will listen to their conscience. In “The Tell-Tale Heart” by Edgar Allan Poe, the main character lives with an old man who has an eye that “resembled that of a vulture--a pale blue eye, with a film over it.” The story revolves around the main character’s obsession over the eye, and how he got rid of it-- by murdering the old man. Towards the end of the story, the young man confesses to the police about his insane stunt after they searched his house. In “The Tell-Tale Heart,” Edgar Allan Poe focused on having the reader know more than the secondary character, using description, and using a first-person narrator, to build suspense.
Rationale: For this task, I created a diary because I think that this style of writing would be an extremely effective way to show another major character’s emotions and ideas, as it can be written from a first person perspective, giving a huge amount of insight. I based my task on a short story by Edgar Allen Poe, titled “The Tell-Tale Heart.” I chose this piece as it gives the opportunity to be very creative in my writing, but also introduces various constraints, such as writing in a similar style to Poe, and trying to avoid any plot holes. This task specifically relates to part 4 of the language and literature course, being; literature, as the stimulus text is a piece of literature, as is my piece of writing.
Edgar Allan Poe was a genius before his time, and his riveting works are immortalized in the hearts and minds of his readers. For hundred of years, adults and children alike have been intrigued by Edgar Allan Poe’s stories. Many of Poe’s works differ from one another especially, “William Wilson” and “The Tell-Tale Heart”. Although it may seem like there are more similarities between the two works, their differences are much more significant. “William Wilson” and “The Tell-Tale Heart s”’most of the tremendous differences are found within characters, conflicts, and themes.
The Tell-Tale Heart: Analysis Poe is best known as the author of horror and suspense. The dark- gothic element that surrounds his stories is enhanced even more with the appearance of multi-complex personalities which ‘move between the edge’ of normal and abnormal. One of his characters that represent this notion is the narrator and main character of his well-known story the “Tell-Tale Heart”. His psychological complexity and his narrative technique immediately captivates the audience attention who ‘struggles’ to come to some conclusion about the narrator’s state of mind. The narrator’s psychological instability is visible through the tone, the syntax and the constant alleviation between sanity and insanity.
Edgar Allan Poe was one of the world’s greatest and most influential connoisseur of short story. He was born on 19th January 1809 in Boston, orphaned at an early age and adopted by a merchant called John Allan from Richmond, Virginia. The Tell-Tale Heart was one of Poe’s famous short stories and it was first published on the 1843. The Tell-Tale Heart is generally considered as a classic of the Gothic fiction genre. If The Tell-Tale Heart was a song, it would be such a painful song to be listened to.
