A Long Walk to Water by Linda Sue Park is a biography about Salva, a Dinka boy, who loses his family in the war. Salva goes on a long journey and travels to New York and finds his father. A theme present in the story is family will protect you, which will prove to be important to Salva’s story. A piece of evidence that proves the theme is "If it hadn't been for Uncle, Salva may have gone crazy with fear." (41). Uncle protected Salva and made sure he wasn't scared.
