Revenge is Stinging In the words of the famous civil rights leader, author, and activist, Correta Scott King “ Revenge and retaliation always perpetuates the cycle of anger, fear, and violence.” It’s undeniable that revenge is always seeked when a person/loved one has been hurt or done wrong in some way. But can it be justified? It causes more anger, more violence, and pain. Revenge is not justifiable because it can easily come back to hurt you or hurt someone around you. Revenge can result in harm towards oneself. Macbeth went on a spree of multiple killings so he could be the king of Scotland, he killed Macduff's family so in return Macduff killed him. In Long Way Down, Will is seeking revenge on Carlson Riggs. The person he believed killed his brother. In his neighborhood, there are 3 rules one has to follow if a loved one gets killed: No crying, No snitching, Revenge. While getting on the elevator to seek revenge he begins to see people that he knew who died to violence. Those ghosts begin to explain to him the consequences and possible outcomes of trying to seek revenge. From the beginning the thought of killing someone wrecks his brain. He begins to realize he is not capable of revenge, and begins to cry and go what seems like crazy. After bullying Carrie and being banned from prom, Chris sets up a bucket of pig's blood to be dumped onto Carrie's head. In front of the whole school, when it happened obviously Carrie is embarrassed and wants to seek revenge. As revenge she unleashes her powers and basically annihilates the city. She kills innocent people due to what one person does to her. She used her powers to knock down electrical lines and when it hit the pavements that had gas and water on them, it caused fires to start and burned down a lot of the town and killed people. “She would get them later. She would get all of them. Every Last One” The context of this quote is that Carrie wants revenge on the whole town, because she was always the butt of every joke. So she's hurting innocent people due to how just a few people treated and tormented her. It is clear that revenge never has a positive outcome. Not for the people seeking it, receiving it, or even the innocent people
