I disliked the story, actually I hated the story, I didn't find it interesting at all. When I was reading the book I found myself having to reread some parts of the story all over again because I wasn't getting where the story was going, basically I just wasn't interested, it wasn't captivating. The issues the book made me feel and think about where teen drinking, smoking, the use of teenage drug use and sex. I say this because throughout the whole book it seemed like drugs, alcohol and sex were the main source of the story which made me think the author was supporting teenage drinking, drug use and sex. I say this because the author didn’t include the consequences and effects that come with drinking, drug use and underage sex throughout …show more content…
The only warning or prevention that is mentioned in the book was when Charlie ‘s dad said to him “don't forget to use protection son.” this is when Charlie was going on a date with Mary Elizabeth. This then led him to have an up and down rollercoaster life. I found Charlie, to be very mature for his age when he listened to advice which he was given by his english teacher Bill, and I quote”we accept the love we think we deserve, things change and friends leave, life doesn't stop for anybody.”I found that I could relate to this quote, it means alot to me because I have experienced situations in my life that can relate to this quotes such as when I lost some friends who were very close, but I learnt that life goes on, and I made some new friends along the way. I found that I could learn a few things from Charlie because he has been through a lot, such as losing his aunt Helen who he loved so much, even though she did him wrong. This taught me to always forgive and not live with hate over someone because it's just not worth
