The Third Twin by C.J. Omololu is a novel filled with mystery and suspense that fits perfectly into the thriller genre. This book is about the story of two twin sisters, Lexi and Ava, who created a third twin, Alicia, as a joke and scapegoat for them when they were younger. Now that the girls are seniors in high school, they pretend to be Alicia, so that they can go out with boys that they would not usually date. Everything is fine with their plan, until a boy is found dead and the only evidence that is discovered places Alicia, a girl who is not real, at the scene of the murder. I thought The Third Twin was a captivating book that kept me interested throughout every chapter, making it hard for me to stop reading. I liked how the ending was unpredictable, unlike many of the other mysteries I have read, which were easy to predict who the killer was. After I finished the novel, I wanted to see if the author some how foreshadowed the identity of the murderer, so I went back and reread parts of the book. As a result, I actually ended up finding clues that I missed, which shows how brilliantly the author incorporated these hidden hints in the plot. Although, I enjoyed the surprising conclusion, I did not like how there were certain plot holes that the author failed to talk about. For example, Omololu did not give specific details about when the murders where carried out, where everyone else was during these times, and the fate of the killer. Moreover, I thought the author’s writing style was entertaining. Omololu writes in detail about Lexi going to the beach to escape the reality of Alicia being a suspect; “The cold, wet air creeps down the back of my neck as I walk toward the water, my feet digging into the narrow strip of sand between the two-story houses that stare blankly at the
