Colonists who came to America differed greatly in backgrounds and settled for various reasons: Colonist in the New England Colony came to America primarily because they were religious reformers and separatist seeking a new way of life; the Middle Colony was inhabited by a tolerant and diverse group of people with different backgrounds; And the Southern Colony was mainly inhabited by English aristocrats, small farmers, and slaves. Because each colonial region inhabited different groups of colonists the social development differed greatly in each region. New England was founded on the Puritan faith and maintained a strong sense of faith, family, and community. New Englan was very strict on enforcing a strong sense Puritan religion, the lifestyle of colonist revolved around the puritan faith, so much so, it was referred to the "city upon a hill". Contrasting greatly with the New England Colony, the Middle Colony was greatly social and religiously diverse.
The middle colonies had a wide range of terrains from coastal beaches to soaring mountains that lied inland. The wide range allowed the middle colonies to have a unique and diverse economy. For instance its costal shore was optimal for harbors and docks. Also due to its location between the southern and New England colonies it made it a prime spot for reaching all 13 colonies. Its rich soil allowed farmers to plant a variety of crops.
For this project, my group researched the Southern colonies. These colonies were divided into two regions, the Chesapeake colonies, which included Virginia and Maryland, and the Southern colonies, which included the Carolinas and later Georgia. These Southern colonies emerged around the early 1600 's when the Europeans came to the New World and later had an abundance of cash crops which allowed their economy to thrive. The Europeans, specifically the British, arrived in the New World in the 1600 's. They made relations with the natives who helped them to survive.
The New England and Chesapeake colonies were established during the early 1700s. Despite the population originating from England, the regions had distinct societies. This was due to the fact that many settlers voyaged to the New World in search of riches, to seek new lives, or for religious freedom. They differed socially, politically, economically, and geographically.
The differences in the economy in the three different regions of the thirteen colonies were determined by both the people who went there and the environment. The environment limited how the economy was based because an agricultural economy needs good ground for growing, so without good soil, the economy would have to be based on industry. In the New England colonies (Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Vermont, Connecticut, and Rhode Island), the economy was dependent on their industries, not their agriculture. The Middle Colonies (New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and Delaware) were equally dependent on industry as they were on agriculture. The Southern Colonies (Maryland, N. Carolina, S. There were long growing seasons. Also, the Southern Colonies had long plains, some hilly regions, long rivers, and low, flat farmland. Like the Southern and Middle Colonies, the New England Colonies had some hills, but that is the only similarity of climate and geography between all of these Colonies. The thirteen colonies, which were divided into 3 regions, were all different and unique in many ways. However, the diversity among the New England Colonies, the Middle Colonies and the Southern Colonies is perhaps what made them so distinctive. The differences between these three regions affected the way they lived, but later, they gained knowledge by analyzing their mistakes and differences. Although these three regions only had a few things in common, it was the differences among them that helped them grow and learn from one another.
The glaciers from the north made it so that they have fertile soil and the growing seasons were much longer with lots of sunlight and rain. They traveled by riding along the wide rivers like the Delaware river and the Hudson river. The middle colonies were an important distribution center in the English mercantile system. The land they live on has a lot of diversity between race, the diversity in races are Catholic, English, and Enslaved Africans all share the land. They made a living by working on the farms and selling those crops to the town.
Southern colonies society was built around their crops, slaves, and plantations. In the Northern colonies they built their society around religion and being fishing. There economy grew from fishing, mainly for with Cod. Religion played a huge role in the Northern colonies, it was a separation of church and state. The Middle colonies economy came from growing crops and fur trading with the Native Americans.
The New England colonies were first founded in the last 16th to 17th century as a sanctuary for differing religious groups. New England was made up of the Massachusetts, Rhode Island, Connecticut, and New Hampshire. New Hampshire, however, was formed for economic reasons instead of religious ones. The Chesapeake region, which is made up of the colonies of Maryland and Virginia, was founded by the British colonies for the purpose of farming. However, by the 1700’s, despite both being settled by Englishmen, New England and the Chesapeake region had developed differently.
In the early 1600’s British settlers colonized the east coast of North America forming a total of 13 colonies. These arising colonies began to grow and evolve into different societies despite being from the same region beforehand. One of the reasons that led to distinct separation among regions was social disjunctions. Others significant reasons include various economic incentives and political stance as well as religious motives. With varying social, economic, and religious disjunctions, the New England and Chesapeake regions both evolved into two distinct societies by the start of the 18’th century.
The New England families tend to travel together, they had a strong sense of community and really would watch out for one another like family. Education was important to the New England colony as so was religion and they were required to study the bible. The Southern Colonies were founded as an economic venture to create wealth where as for the New England colony were mainly about religious reformers and separatists. They were looking for a new way to praise God, that’s not to say that religion wasn’t important to the southern colonies because it was they just had a different way of going about it than the New England colonies. The religion in the southern colonies was more diverse.
In the Northern colonies you will mainly see mountains but close to the coastline it's flatter and it is a colder climate and mildly warm summers. Only a thin layer of soil makes it possible for mainly subsistence farming only. Within the southern colonies, there are mostly plains, forests and along
People wanted to worship freely, so they moved to the middle colonies. The economy of the middle colonies was another reason why people settled there. The economy was another reason why people settled in the middle colonies. The middle colonies had fertile land and a good climate, making it a perfect place to grow staple crops. Trade was also an essential part of the economy.
You can’t buy a new Renault in the United States, but Nissan, Infiniti, Mercedes-Benz and Smart brand models are available.
