In this book The Time Keeper, Mitch Albom expresses the importance of life. He shows why fretting about time is just a complete waste of time. Dor, also known as Father Time, is sent on a mission to find Sarah, an insecure teen, and Victor, a dying wealthy man. There are three main characters in this story. The first one I’m going to talk about is Dor. One thing I like about Dor is that he’s comforting in in the time of need. In chapter nine, Dor and Alli have to leave the city they know and love because Dor refuses to become his childhood friend Nim’s slave for the tower he is building. Alli begins to cry because she doesn’t want to leave her children or the things she knows, but Dor is there to comfort her by telling her it’s all going to be okay as well as hugging her. Another thing about Dor is he is the first man to distress about time. In the early chapters of the book, Dor spends his time measuring out the days and carving the hours on what he called a sun stick. After he finds out about cryonics, he think about how he is the most important person and wonders if he will still be an important person in the future. Not to mention he almost completely ignores his wife Grace. They were once so in love but Victor’s job soon got in the way of that. Another thing I dislike about Victor is that he’s unaware of how he treats others. In chapter fifty-eight, Victor spends what he thinks are his last moments trying to create a distraction for Grace by sending her to the Gala. He knew how much she wanted to be with him in his time of need, dying from cancer and all, but of course he didn’t care.
