In the tragic novel, Romeo and Juliet, by William Shakespeare, there are several examples throughout the story that demonstrate Romeo’s love for Juliet. The story is set in the late 1500’s, and during this time the rule was that the father selected a husband for his daughter. Juliet was against this tradition, and she did not want to marry the man her father had chosen for her. She made a risky decision to pretend she was dead to avoid marrying a man she disliked. Juliet convinced herself that she could trick her father so she could marry her true love, Romeo, instead.
