Narrative elements are essential for creating an exciting story for the reader. In the story, “ The Treasures of Lemon Brown” by Walter Dean Myer, Greg Ridley is a boy who struggles in math. He is failing in math and is scared to see what his father will say when he finds out. Greg goes into an abandoned house while running away from his house. In the house he meets a homeless man named Lemon Brown and learns about how everyone has a treasure and see’s his dad's treasure is him, and that's why he is so hard on him. The author of the story uses the narrative elements, plot and characterization techniques to create a meaningful story for his readers. Walter Dean Myers uses plot elements to help describe the setting,conflict, and resolution.
