I have found The Truman Show the most successful, it has shown the truth about society and how we are manipulated through media. Media uses techniques and conflicts to engage people. We forget as humans there is a difference between real and reality. That is what
The Truman Show was about. People have forgotten they were watching real people, but in a different way. The people inside Seahaven were actors, besides Truman. Truman was real, but the others were living in reality.
The Truman Show used multiple Elements of Fiction throughout the film. These helped create their success and to get their point across. The protagonist throughout the show was Truman. He was always a true man; always true to himself and to others. The setting was at Seahaven. This was a symbol for a clean cut safe place near the sea. It was significant, because Truman lost his father at sea sailing and he was terrified of water after that. Seahaven was a dome liked city. The city was controlled by the producer, Christof,he wanted a place where he could control,but keep Truman safe from harm. Another Element of Fiction is conflict. A technique they used was a night cam. This was used when Truman was sleeping and the other producers were keeping an eye on Truman. It was dark so they needed a camera technique to brighten the darkness up. Another camera angle used was hidden cameras. There were over 5,000 camera around the town of Seahaven. Multiple were hidden within different things. Such as, buttons, windows, mirrors, and flowers. All these got a close look on Truman and his life. These helped zoom into different situations. Another technique was point of view shot. This was the shots the audience was watching Truman. This helped create the sense of us also watching
