The Truth about Human Nature William Golding author of the award winning novel Lord of The Flies suggests in this novel that deep inside of human nature there is a deep dark evil that has been hidden away by society. Living a day to day life in society humans do not notice this dark side because it is hidden by rules. Just like in Lord of The Flies and other events once that side can be shown a sneak peek then the rest comes out. When the darkness within is released nothing can hold this nature back. Golding suggests that human nature is evil, which is a precise representation of society and its natural ways.

The Holocaust was a major showcase of how evil human nature can really get with Hitler leading a reign of soldier that led to “11 million civilian deaths, including 6 million Jews” (Roy F. Baumeister). Hitler had a normal life as a young child to an adult being a painter until the war and after WWI his ideology changed to blaming everything on Jewish people and trying to eradicate them along with convincing soldiers to help with his evil plan. Just like in Lord of the Flies at the end when the boys finally wake up from their crazed daze to see what they have done the same was said for German soldiers after the war when they got to see photos of what had happened “Still image shows soldiers’ faces in reaction to the screen, the video ends with close-ups of the townspeople leaving the theater, as the camera seeks any kind of change in their expressions. Most, however, stare straight ahead, avoiding the gaze of the occupiers” (Rebecca Onion). The evidence showed how the soldiers through the war were left in a blank gaze because they don’t remember themselves doing that at the camps because the evil nature within took control until it was over and they snapped out of this fit of rage. These two pieces of evidence show the evil nature that the Nazi regime had to do these horrible acts and were left with only the photos of what happened because this evil state that they were in covered up what they did like a
