The Mexican Revolution was a very complex and bloody war that lasted for decades. The Mexican Revolution began in 1910 with the plan to overthrow the current ruler Porfiro Diaz Mori. Diaz sought to bring Mexico into the modern times by industrializing the country and with that peasants and rural workers suffered. Diaz was known for using bullying tactics to get his way. Diaz was ultimately overthrown by Madero. Madero was not seen as a great ruler with keeping much of the info structure of the past government that was ruled by Diaz. Many were not happy with Madero not accomplishing anything. He was replaced with Huerta who later assassinated Madero. Huerta was sadly a dictator as well. Carranza would then take over. Carranza wanted peace and with that he created the Constitutional army and constitution. The Mexican Revolution was much more complicated than the simple explanation. It started out simple to overthrow Diaz but with Madero keeping the existing government and falling through with promised reforms. Many were upset with him. Luis Cervantes expressed his disappoint to the General about how Madero stated that these men risked their lives and left their families and now that he got what he wanted, those same men can go back to what they were doing and he will go enjoy being an elite .Even the general asked in the beginning what are we even fighting for . It was even rumored that the ‘rebels’ were just fighting as an excuse to loot homes . Just like in the Mexican Revolution, the Underdogs is able to show how the clarity of what the soldiers were fighting for was not always crystal
