In Roald Dahl’s horrendous short story “The LandLady” he uses the landlady’s character to show us that things are not always as good as they appear, and in some cases should most likely be avoided. In this chilling story, Billy sees the bed and breakfast and thinks to himself “On the carpet in front of the fire, a pretty little dachshund was curled up asleep with it’s nose tucked into it’s belly. Animals were usually a good sign in a place like this” This is significant because the dog was actually stuffed, but Billy did not know this. He later comes to find out that the landlady is a taxidermist.
