Even though H.G Wells was an author during the era where there was no modern technology like laptops or even type-writers, he was able to write and publish one of the first science fiction novels The War of the Worlds. H.G Wells proves his vast amount of imagination by using a great deal of details to depict his many ideas which also enclose many themes and was able to make everything understandable despite the fact that the main character is the narrator. From the first to the last line, HG Wells was able to make everything so explicit that you could put yourself in the narrator’s shoes. During all occasions, anyone with or without the ability of imagination could picture what is happening just by reading his words which makes it an astonishing book. When it comes to me I was actually able to picture a map of where the towns were just by following the description. “A meteorite lay somewhere between Horsell, Ottershaw, and Woking.” (Wells, 11). “extended far away to the east and west- to Byfleet pine woods eastward, and to Woking on the West.” (Wells, 30). Both of these quotes depict only part of Wells description of the surroundings. …show more content…

For example, Power, warfare, etc. In the War of the Worlds, Martians invade and hold power but how did they take away power from the human race? They were too powerful for us and were able to hold power but luckily a specific bacteria safe to our immune system killed them; other than that, the Martians would have held power for generations. “ ‘what happened?’ I asked. ‘what hasn’t?’ In the obscurity I could see he made a gesture of despair. ‘They wiped us out –simply wiped us out,’ he repeated again and again.” (Wells, 35) “ ‘We’d been wiped out. And the smell—good GOD! Like burnt meat!’ ” (Wells, 36). Both quotes show how the Martians held power and that the human race was being beaten
