Yuri Kochiyama is a Japanese-American civil rights activist, and author of “Then Came the War” in which she describes her experience in the detention camps while the war goes on. December 7th, is when Kochiyama life began to change from having the bombing in Pearl Harbor to having her father taken away by the FBI. All fishing men who were close to the coast were arrested and sent into detention camps that were located in Montana, New Mexico and South Dakota. Kochiyama’s father had just gotten out of surgery before he was arrested and from all the movement he’d been doing, he begun to get sick. Close to seeing death actually, until the authorities finally let him be hospitalized.

Aron Ralston uses survival traits to survive being trapped in between a boulder and a wall of rock.
Another conclusion readers can draw from Thomas Foster’s How to Read Literature Like a Professor: a Lively and Entertaining Guide to Reading Between the Line, is in his chapter “ More than It’s Gonna Hurt You”. Although, Foster doesn’t use any new vocabulary he does introduce a new idea about the importance and depth in violence. As well as the fact that violence always has a deeper meaning than just a brutal encounter. “Violence is one of the most personal and even intimate acts between human beings, but it can also be cultural or societal in its implications” (Foster 88).
In "The Most Dangerous Game" by Richard Connell, the external conflicts faced by Sanger Rainsford, the protagonist, create an internal conflict within him. The external conflicts include his struggle to survive on a remote island, his pursuit by General Zaroff, and his participation in the deadly game of hunting humans. These external conflicts force Rainsford to question his beliefs and values, leading to an internal conflict about his own humanity and the morality of the hunt. At the beginning of the story, Rainsford is a successful big-game hunter who believes in the thrill of the hunt.
Violence is an action that people despise but is mostly always used when one well being is threatened. The book “the outsiders” it is about a boy named ponyboy who is in a gang and struggles with his differences from the rest of the gang. The text “fist stick knife gun” talks of a boy and his brothers who use violence to get a jacket back from a boy who stole it from them. Both the authors use the protagonist conflict in their life to connect to the theme violence leads to more violence. In both “Outsiders” and “Fist stick knife gun” the authors uses POV of the characters to develop the theme of violence never ends it's like a cycle.
Former UCLA History Professor and author, Roger D. McGrath, in his article, “The Myth of Violence in the Old West,” (Gunfighters, Highwaymen, and Vigilantes: Violence on the Frontier, 1984) asserts there is no connection between the violence of the Old West and violence today. Firstly, McGrath begins his article by introducing the main claim. Then introduces Bodie an infamous town known for its crime, located on the trans-Sierra frontier. He then discusses the low rate of larcenous crime found through the FBI index; which the information shows that individuals weren’t the targets and crime was thwarted by citizens. The explanation of the law larceny rate could be due to the fact more citizens were armed, therefore criminals were threatened
An Analysis of the Relation between Violence and Compassion Violence is the notorious cause of conflicts around the world. This theme arises many times within the novel “Ender’s Game,” written by Orson Scott Card. Ender Wiggin is just a young boy when he is expected to save all of mankind. Through constant fear of becoming like his abusive brother, Peter, Ender unknowingly executes an entire species, known as buggers. After enduring immense self-conflict, Ender is finally able to restore his compassion, and identity.

The story begins when the protagonist, Rainsford, is travelling by boat, accompanied by his friend Whitney, to go on a hunting trip. As they are making their way to the desired hunting grounds, the two begin talking about the morality of their sport. Whitey notes that “ ‘Even so, I rather think they [the animals] understand one thing--fear. The fear of pain and the fear of death’”.

Two hunters are on a yacht in the Caribbean Sea, when one falls off and washes up on an island. There, he meets General Zaroff, a man with only one desire. To hunt humans. He makes Rainsford (the man from the shipwreck), go loose on the island in order to hunt him.
The Most Dangerous Game Conflicts All stories have to have a conflict, the short story “The Most Dangerous Game” by Richard Connell has three important conflicts. Man against man, man against nature, man against himself are the three main conflicts that take place. For man against man Rainsford and General Zaroff are fighting each other in the hunting ‘game’. For man against nature Rainsford is fighting the sea once he hears the gunshots and is trying to get out of the water.
It bleeds throughout the city and poisons whatever it can curl its talons around. The beast has found an unexpected home in the unassuming state of Nebraska; this terrible creature being violence. The news hardly goes a week without reporting about some shooting here or a bulgury over there. The violence has become such an uncontrollable problem that it touches even those far from the areas considered dangerous. I have lived my entire life in a wealthy suburb on the outskirts of Omaha, but not even I can escape from this sickness that rages across the state.
What is violence? Violence is, as described by Google,”behavior involving physical force intended to hurt, damage, or kill someone or something. Strength of emotion or an unpleasant or destructive natural force. And the unlawful exercise of physical force or intimidation by the exhibition of such force.” Both 1984 by George Orwell, and Brave New World by Aldous Huxley have violence threaded throughout each novel.
Oppression has always been prevalent throughout history, and as a response to this, the exploited often revolt, in turn, causing inciteful change. However, when the revolution only seeks revenge, it fosters more violence and creates a more oppressed society. The French Revolution while successful in the sense that it overthrew the government, has one dangerous aspect in common with oppression: violence. This revolution is depicted in A Tale of Two Cities by Dickens, where the persecuted peasants of France start a rebellion to try and achieve revenge government. However, by using violence as the primary method to abolish the government and boasting about the dominance of the revolution through the Carmagnole, the revolutionaries discredit themselves.
The 20th century labelled, “the most violent century in human history” (golding). To explain the violence of the 20th century if one must look at all events of the intentionally harm done to others. This includes the violence caused by the two hundred and fifty-six wars inluding World War One and two, The Vietnam War, The Cold War which where almost 108 milion human lives have persihed and others haunted by the gruesome details that occurred during these events. One must also look at the the violence caused by seven genocides including the Holocaust, Armenian Genocide and Rwandan Genocide which killed eighteen million people.
