The Weary Blues
Throughout American history, African American people have been discriminated and treated poorly. In the 1920s and 30s, African Americans were reaching a point of hopelessness and despair. At this point in time they began to express their sorrow through song. In the poem “The Weary Blues” written by Langston Hughes, the author shows the solemn mood of this time through personification of the blues. He shows this through giving the blues a pronoun and giving the tune an emotion.
