A comparison of The Wife of Bath to Guinevere and the expectations of Women in the middle ages teaches a lesson. A lesson that expects women of the modern era to learn from. In both stories, The Wife of Bath and Queen Guinevere have characteristics that give a similar perspective that resolved in Greed of their relationships along with so many other characterizations.

What we can learn about the role, status, and expectations of Women in the middle ages by comparing The Wife of Bath to queen Guinevere are many characteristics. In The Wife of Bath, the Wife has a characteristic of Greed against the relationships she has had, until her 5th husband. The Wife made things her way and her way had been to only do what she had thought was best for her and her husbands. The wife also has a way of not wanting any of her 4 husbands to show her what she had been doing. The Wife also has a characteristic of Passion. Being energetic was her main role of being the wife for all 5 marriages. The wife of course had an instrument she would use very much so often that kept her husbands entertained by. Treating her husbands in such manner of not allowing their affections to be moved by her, had made the wife’s marriages easy to move on from. The wife was very forceful which made her marriages easy to be controlled by her. And the wife made things her way had been to only do what she had thought was best for her and her husbands. The wife also has a way of not wanting any of her 4 husbands to shower her what she had been doing the wife’s also has a characteristic of passion.
