The Works Progress Administration (WPA) was the most successful New Deal program. It was created to tackle the issue of unemployment. Because of the work done by the WPA’s upwards of eight million employees, 120,000 public buildings were built. Those buildings included hospitals, schools, and airports. Employees also made roads, playgrounds, and clothes. The WPA employed all able-bodied, unemployed Americans of the ages of 18 and older. Women and African-Americans were involved as well as white men. The jobs created by this program gave eight million people an income they hadn't had before the WPA.
