On this book report I will be writing about the themes that I saw when I read this book the people who read this book could learn a lot of the stuff that has happened back in the past. One of the themes in the story is how she always had faith in god. She would always imagined God as an old white man. But though the book and everything that had happened to her, she began to rebel against this image of god. She began to see God as a genderless a more universal being who wants humans to enjoy all aspects of life. That hits people who read this book, because she thinks that god doesn't like her and she was about to stop believing in god. For exmaple “I think it pissed God off if you walk by the color purple in the color purple in a field somewhere and don't notice it. People think pleasing God is all God cares about. But any fool living in the world can see it always trying to please us back.” It talks about how she thought that god didn't care about how they felt that god did not care about them. The book has love in it that it shows the readers throughout the book. First she has love with her sister. At first her and her sister lived together at Mr.__ house but then he kicked her out of her house. After that they stopped talking. The book is trying to tell you that love is all about respect and how you much you care about someone. When you care for someone you will always care about them no matter what and you will do anything so they could be happy.
