Character The protagonist in the story is the son of a priest. He is very fearful and gets easily frightened. The main character would always get a stronger punishment than both of his brothers. After he got used to going to the dead houses and seeing all the weird items he’s seen, he has stopped getting scared. Little by little he started increasing as a more daring person and became solitary. I believe we could all agree that the character is still developing. Theme The theme of this story is the huge difference between both knowledge and truth. Well it turns out that the young son is wishing to learn all about secrets. He discovered that the Gods were actually human just like himself. Realistically the priest’s son knew the dead places as treacherous and was a mystery that nobody could crack open like an egg. “If you eat too much truth at once, you may die of the truth.” The meaning of this quote is that you might not be capable of handling to know everything.
