When comparing different states, it is important to pay attention to every detail. In doing so, we can understand why a state might be thriving more than another. As there are many reasons that make up the success of a state, important concepts can be drawn out. This analysis will focus on comparing the historical, geographical, economic, and political aspects that make up the UK, France, and Russia, and how they compare to each other. The importance of a states historical and geographic background leads into how successful a states economic and political system is. There are four different types of political economic systems: liberal, communist, mercantilist, and social democracy. The United Kingdom has a more liberal, or market-oriented system, which means people are able to make their own decisions, without control of the government. This ensures greater economic equality, developing a welfare system that ensured better health, housing and education. This required taxation of people on higher incomes and so a restriction on property but not interference by government in the market. Russia has a very similar political economic system as the United Kingdom. In 1991, Russia made the transition from a socialist, or state-directed system, to a liberal system. Compared to Russia and UK's political economy, France has a mixed economy, including capitalist and socialist characteristics. Capitalism involves the private ownership, where socialism involves all, or most industries under the ownership of the government. Overall, the United Kingdom has the most efficient economic system in allowing everyone to have a present role. But, there are many other factors that contribute to the overall economy of a
