On many occasions inside Herot, the characters of Beowulf consume alcohol. Because of this, the effects of these actions are shown throughout the text. The epic poem Beowulf serves to reveal the dangers of alcohol consumption. In particular, this is used against the men by Grendel and Unferth as he attempts to discredit Beowulf.
