Throughout the novel, Reuben and Jeremiah’s health seem tied to each other. Reuben is at his strongest when Jeremiah falls ill, but when Jeremiah seems healthy and happy, Reuben’s asthma controls him, and in the end, Jeremiah gives up his life for Reuben. Firstly, Reuben is healthiest when Jeremiah becomes sick.

William Shakespeare’s The Tragedy of Julius Caesar and Jimmy Breslin’s article, “The Fear and the Flames” are very similar even though they were written during two very different time periods. Both writers revealed how people sometimes respond to the assassination of public figures. Breslin wrote about the events in Washington, D.C. following the assassination of Martin Luther King, Jr. and Shakespeare noted the events following Julius Caesar’s assassination in Rome. These two men were very respected leaders in both societies that very few did not like. Firearms burn bright in the dim sun, exposing the vibrancy of blood-stained suits. As the bullets penetrate skin, the life of another innocent individual has already been lost. Families never to hear a last, “I love you” before their loved one tragically passes in a loud, chaotic mess. They run towards the danger, knowing exactly what result the soldiers might have gotten in the gamble of life or death.

Some people seem perfect with no flaws at all while others seem hopelessly imperfect with many flaws, but the truth is everyone makes mistakes. Friends should accept each other's shortcomings because unrealistic expectations can damage a relationship. In A Separate Peace, both Finny and Gene had difficulty accepting a friend's shortcomings.
All in all, the violence changed the lives of many, but today the city is working for its citizens to bring back comfort and peace. In the Scottish tragedy Macbeth by William Shakespeare chaos and disorder are a driving factor in the plot of the play. It is caused by the Weïrd Sisters who trick Macbeth into believing the illusion of their predictions. Macbeth, armed with a dangerous ambition, goes and creates more disorder throughout the play. A motif that can be traced through the play that adds disorder is weather.

Conrad uses examples of order and chaos throughout his novel to aid in the delivery of the differentiation of the truth of human nature and the sham of civilization. In these examples, order represents civilization and chaos represents the wilderness of Africa. When Marlow finally left the central station to retrieve Mr. Kurtz, he and his crew stop at an abandoned cottage in the middle of the jungle where a European once lived and noticed an old book on the table. Marlow says, “Not a very enthralling book; but at the first glance you could see the singleness of intention, an honest concern for the right way of doing work, . . . The simple od sailor, with is talk of chains and purchases, made me forget about the jungle and the pilgrims in a delicious sensation of having come upon something unmistakably real” (78).
