Another interesting use themes that Hawthorne uses is female purity, which he establishes this through the character Faith. Faith like Goodman Brown is depicted as a good person full of purity that the Puritans wanted to enforce among the community. She unfortunately falls into the sins of humanity and loses her own purity: “But something fluttered lightly down through the air and caught on the branch of a tree.
