Around the world many people do not know what really happened on Dec. 7, 1941. How the U.S. fought back was unexpected to the entire world. The memorial is all some people know and it affects people every day.
In general, the Japanese bombed the United States. What the cause was for the Japanese to want to bomb the U.S. The attacks were stemmed by intensifying the rivalry. (Simple)The harbor was known as a strong naval base. The effects from the attack was tremendous. At 3:42am a unwelcome submarine was spotted following a U.S. minesweeper. Around 6:00am the Japanese launched 200 planes 200 miles north of pearl harbor. When they launched the prime minister ToJo Hideki declared war. There were many things used against Pearl Harbor such as bombers, torpedo bombers, and midget submarines. Most of the battleships were sunk in the first 30 minutes of the attacks. The whole attack only lasted two hours. The U.S. aircraft carriers were untouched. There were 2,400 United states men died and 1,200 were injured and only 100 Japanese died. (Complex) The reasons for the United States getting back is really obvious. U.S. declared war on them on Dec. 8, 1941. The Japanese virtually wrecked the whole naval base. On Dec. 11, 1941 the Germans and Italians declared war on the U.S., which also brought the U.S. into WWII. About 6 months later the USA gave the Japanese a devastating blow to their navy. USA dropped an Atomic bomb on them in Hiroshima. Husband Kimmel and Walter Short were the United States generals at the time. In later years the military found out that the Japanese were going to attack but the U.S. military did not know when.
