(Complex) The reasons for the United States getting back is really obvious. U.S. declared war on them on Dec. 8, 1941. The Japanese virtually wrecked the whole naval base. On Dec. 11, 1941 the Germans and Italians declared war on the U.S., which also brought the U.S. into WWII. About 6 months later the USA gave the Japanese a devastating blow to their navy. USA dropped an Atomic bomb on them in Hiroshima. Husband Kimmel and Walter Short were the United States generals at the time. In later years the military found out that the Japanese were going to attack but the U.S. military did not know when.
