Idealism is the group of philosophies which assert that reality, or reality as we can know it, is fundamentally mental, mentally constructed, or otherwise immaterial. Idealism emphasizes how human ideas especially beliefs and values shape society. Essentially, it is any philosophy which argues that the only thing actually knowable is consciousness, whereas we never can be sure that matter or anything in the outside world really exists. Thus, the only real things are mental entities, not physical things. Idealism could include many religious viewpoints, although an Idealistic viewpoint need not necessarily include God, supernatural beings, or an existence after death. In the order of the appearance of idealism in the play, we have the ideal love of Orsino for Olivia. This scene is showing intense love, encompassing love of the chivalric romances-an idealistic Petrarchan Love. Orsino regards himself as the ideal example of the Petrarchan lover and he does so with full justification for Olivia has rejected his suit. His ideal love for Olivia is so overwhelming that no other emotion can enter his heart.
In the line:
“O spirit of love, how quick and fresh art thou, that notwithstanding thy capacity, Recieveth as the sea, nought enters there, of what validity and pitch soe’er But falls onto abatement and low price, Even in a minute.” This line of Orsino implies how an ideal love strikes his heart and fall into abatement. This line also shows idealism. It is said that a person is said to be in love when someone touches his heart and go deep down to his/her soul and realizing that love has no limits, love can drowned you into its system in just a quick snap and not knowing that sparks are twinkling around you and feel like love is all over you. Abstraction in its main sense is a conceptual process by which general rules and concepts are derived from the usage and classification of specific examples, literal signifiers, first principles, or other methods. Simply, all propositions are concrete and consistent. In the story, all love that is showed in the story are real love. Love that even us experienced. Love that might happen to us someday, emotions that might give us happiness or might hurt us. Love that can fill are expectations and limitations. But because of abstraction, this love becomes confusing and complicated. We often expect that our idea will be true because the world give us hint, clues and perception that it will be real.
