Fear is not a problem in the beginning for Macbeth, but soon becomes a recurring thought. He then chooses to see the light in his prophecies. First sleeping becomes a problem because of a mistake that makes it a consequence. Then guilt makes the list with the mistakes made and it ends up destroying many people's lives. Macbeth suffers from a mental illness because of his time in battle and he quickly makes the illness even stronger with his murdering deeds. Macbeth suffers from Posttraumatic Stress Disorder, the painful mental illness, which makes him envision a future that he is not meant to live.

In the beginning he was uneasy about hearing his prophecies from the witches. Then his first two prophecies ended up coming true, he then realized that he needed to complete the last deed to become king, murder Duncan. Lady Macbeth then came up with a plan and took charge, which made him nervous. He was already thinking of ways it could go wrong and how he didn’t want to do it. By his wife’s words he was acting cowardly, but he was thinking of the good reasons not to betray the King. After a while of convincing conversation and arguing, he finally decides to do it. He soon realizes the entire rest of his life he would have this feeling of guilt and of a dirty murderer to remind him of his bloody deeds. Macbeth has many moments where he has to realize he is just seeing things. As stated before he had seen the dagger, which symbolized the murder and then he had the incident where he saw Banquo’s ghost during dinner. His guilt led him to the stress and visions. He was haunted by his deeds. Macbeth argues for his side, “If I stand here, I saw him.” (3:4:75) Also, frightened and startled he talks to the vision of the ghost, “Avaunt! And quit my sight! Let the earth hide thee!” (3:4:93) He yells at his vision to leave because he is supposed to be dead and
