Description: I chose this poem because I like it, so I can perform and share it with an audience (Yordon, 2002). This poem is full of values that I have personally benefited from. It invites us to see life in a different way, a way that is full of optimism. This poem highlights many aspects of life, such as, communication with others, with God, and with our self. The verse “Go placidly amid the noise and haste, and remember what peace there may be in silence” made us to accept the noise that is around us in our lives like conflicts or a complexity that we live in or our experiences. The author also motivates people to do not fake love, and be honest about our self and others. The poem stimulates people to use their wisdom of the past and to be disciplined. In addition, the verse “You are a child of the universe, no less than the trees and the stars; you have a right to be here. And whether or not it is clear to you, no doubt the universe is unfolding as it should” has a great metaphor, which is “You are a child of the universe.” In the poem he expresses that all humans like a child which reflects that all people are equal like one child. We can also find the idea that all people should be characterized by purity as a child. There is also motivation to be optimistic and confident in ourselves no matter what other say about us. In the end of this poem the author mentioned that we should be at peace with God, and the world is still beautiful even when it has conflicts. Furthermore, this poem has the characteristics of universality, individuality, and suggestion. It has great devices that would be very helpful for any people.
