In works of literature nature often is romanticized, it is shown as a place of serenity and often the main character can be found there alone. Although many works of literature show romantic qualities the main characters often react differently to their solitude in nature and this is what influences the feeling associated with the piece. In the poems “The Most of It” by Robert Frost, “There Was a Boy” by William Wordsworth, and the short story “Big Two-Hearted River” by Ernest Hemingway, each protagonist reacts slightly differently to their isolation.
When reading the short story “Big Two-Hearted River” by Ernest Hemingway and the poem “There Was a Boy” by William Wordsworth the romantic qualities of the two works of literature are strong points
