Technology is a huge development that has revolutionized the lives of everyone in the world. Like magicians, technology is an incredible wonder that can perform amazing things and is consistently making the impossible become possible. Technology is being used daily by people for different purposes. While some relish the assistance it provides them, others fear that technology may be destructive to society. Ray Bradbury is among those who are concerned about technology. In “The Veldt” and “There Will Come Soft Rains,” he portrays that technology is harming the world and suggests that technology may lead humankind to its downfall. Bradbury’s vision regarding technology, however, is not true. Instead of harming society, technology is actually improving it. Technology is a beneficial breakthrough because it assists people in difficult or risky tasks, serves as a useful educational tool, and saves lives with its advancement in the medical field. Some may argue that technology is unhealthy because it can trigger people to become allured to it. It is true that people are hooked to technology, but even so, they are making good use of it instead of being harmed by it; therefore it is rather a useful innovation. Society values technology for it can be used for educational purposes. In their article, “Students, Meet Your New Teacher, Mr.Robot,” Carey Benedict and John Markoff illustrated the ways robots are being used in a classroom. Benedict and Markoff claimed that technology can “engage people and teach them simple skills, including household tasks, vocabulary or, as in the case of the boy, playing, elementary imitation and taking turns.” This reveals that technology can improve the minds and behaviors of humans.
