The Graveyard Book, a book about murders, ghosts, and ghostly powers, is also about love, family and home. It all started with a criminal named Jack Frost. His job was to kill a certain family with a mother , father and two children. One of the children , the youngest a baby, escaped and crawled to safety into a graveyard. As Bod grew up he began to learn more from the ghosts, werewolves and his protector Silas. Though he was curious about the outside world Bod was not allowed into the dangers outside the graveyard. One day Bod meant a young living girl named Scarlett. They became friends and played together because Scarlett could see Bod. Nobody did not know that years later Scarlett would lead his murderer to him. Scarlett had met Jack Frost as Mr.Frost and did not know he was out to get her childhood friend. Bod and Scarlett had talked to Mr.Frost about Bod’s family’s murders that took place in the house Mr.Frost was living in. Not until Mr.Frost tried to kill Bod did Bod and Scarlett figure out that he was the family murderer. Jack was not alone he was working with a group called the Jacks of all trades. Later in the story when one of the Jacks is chasing after Bod he reveals that they needed to kill his family because of an ancient myth. “Long time ago, one of our people foresaw that one day, there would be a child born who would walk the borderland between the living and the dead. The author Neil Gaiman included different ways that each ghost talk depending on their era which gave the story and old feel. Though the feel of the story may seem old The Graveyard takes place in the 21st century. You could tell because the living had cell phones and cars and could video record. The Graveyard is a safe haven for Bod because that's where the people who love and protect him live. The graveyard is a nature reserve during the day but at night it's just a dark and mysterious graveyard.Thanks to the Graveyard and it’s residents Bod is still living.The ghosts,werewolves,and of course his guardian Silas taught Bod the necessities the every normal child needs to learn. That includes reading, writing, discipline, and ghost powers. Bod loves the graveyard and loves to explore and learn ,but as he grew older he longed to go into the town and interact with living people. Each time he did he got into some sort of trouble and his guardian, Silas had to protect him. So it was best that he stayed in the graveyard at all times.Especially with the man Jack trying to kill him. Nobody has been living in the graveyard for 15 years and those 15 years shaped him into the person he was. But at 15 Bod was encouraged to start a life outside the graveyard.
