At the beginning of the story, Salva is kind and he had the heart of helping people. “As Salva walked, the same thoughts kept going through his head in rhythm with his steps. Where are we going? Where is my family? when will I see them again” (Park 9). This quote is shows that before, Salva lived with his family. One day the soldiers came to his village and try to killed all the people in his village but Salva and his family escaped this torture and ran away from his village but sadly they were separating and Salva had to run alone by Hines led. After this incident, Salva try to find his family but he can’t find it, he see a group of people and he tried to followed them and asked where they were going. They say that they will go to new camps. Salva sees smoke and flames, and many people were walking and running with him. Salva say how can I find my family and how can I see them again. Salva was relieved and felt comforted because he recognized some people from his tribe but no one from his family was there. couldn't travel with them. Because he uncle was a leader, he had a gun, and he can protect him. And Salva was saved when he lived with his uncle. One days, Salva uncle decided to return back to the refugee camps in Sudan to fight. But before he get to the camps he was killed. Salva and others people move to a new camps. It’s not easy to get into new camps because they are in war zone. When they go to the new camp they don’t have enough food so they were so hungry and tried.
