Thomas Jefferson was born on the thirteenth day of April in the year of 1743 to the loving parents of Peter and Jane Jefferson of Virginia. What many people do not know is that Thomas Jefferson was born on a plantation and he was also the oldest son. Contrary to being born on a plantation, Thomas Jefferson grew up well privileged. Jefferson was fast leaner and at the age of twenty-one, he graduated from the College of William and Mary in Williamsburg, Virginia. Five years after his graduation, Thomas Jefferson soon began his political career by working as a lawyer. Thomas Jefferson was a smart man who had many great opportunities and took advantage of them; which helped put him in favor with many people. In 1804 Jefferson tried to put together what was called “The Philosophy of Jesus of Nazareth” (Monticello.com). In this attempt, Thomas Jefferson took pieces from the four Gospels to put together “… what he understood was the true message of Jesus”(Monticello.com). Although the first attempt did not work out, sixteen years later a successful version was created. The successful Jefferson Bible was not published until 1895, when Jefferson’s great-granddaughter sold Thomas Jefferson’s private copy to Smithsonian Institution. Although, Thomas Jefferson was not able to see the effects of his bible, yet many people in politics were able to see his hard work. Soon after the bible being at the Smithsonian Institution, many copies of his bible were made and sold.
