Chapter 9 The Jefferson Era was between 1800 and 1816. It started with The Federalist and Republican Parties fighting an election campaign in 1800. Federalists supported President Adams and Charles Pinckney for vice president. Republicans nominated Thomas Jefferson for president and Aaron Burr as his running mate.
Thomas Jefferson, the man that once stated, “...all men are created equal...”, still owned slaves and didn’t treat them equal. This is hypocrisy at the highest level, whether or not one only believes in the good of Thomas Jefferson. One could say that Jefferson stating “We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal…” could be more important than his personal use of slaves since it was used to unite the country against the prominent nation of Great Britain. His writing in the Declaration of Independence is all about bringing the country together whilst stating certain rights that beings have, such as life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. He states that the citizens are able to get rid of or alter the government
Thomas Jefferson, strict constructionist? One of our most contributing founding fathers, Thomas Jefferson, once stated that “A Bill of Rights is what the people are entitled to against every government, and what no just government should refuse, or rest on interference.” This clearly implies that he’s a man of the people. Although he thought a “president above parties” was the way to go or that “we are all republicans--- we are all federalists” he was sure enough an Anti-Federalist, by far, between the mid 1700s.
If you was to ask me I was would say "yes" cause if you accomplished more, then you would have less to do the next day or any period of time. When you kill time you get less work done but if you get the

Thomas Jefferson was a strict constructionist and the Constitution was silent about acquiring lands from other countries therefore Jefferson saw to approve a constitutional amendment to resolve the issue and satisfy his own interpretational beliefs but the Senate did not agree. For $15 million France offered the U.S. the entire Louisiana territory which was more than 800,000 acres from Louisiana to the Rockies and beyond and the two American ministers sent to negotiate the land deal seized the opportunity but went beyond their mandate of only negotiating for $10 million . While the incorporation of these new lands was a benefit and opportunity for the United States to grow in power and size, Jefferson had still qualms about its constitutionality.
I had seen and heard the protests of my fellow colonists on my way home from gathering the chicken eggs for breakfast. It was 4:30 in the morning, but the streets lacked the familiar silence that I so enjoyed. Instead of the echo of beautiful songs chirped by the early morning birds, the air was filled with the sounds of screaming, shouting, and loud chants of protest. Protesting what, I 'm not sure. I paused to listen in, leaning towards the source of the noise.
Quote 1: “The public defender, trying to get him off, called him a dumb animal,” I told her. “He said it would be like tying a hog down in that chair and executing him-an animal that didn’t know what any of it was all about. The jury, twelve white men good and true still sentenced him to death.” (26) My Response: This quote is significant because it is a representation that times have not changed.
“The God who gave us life, gave us liberty at the same time” and “He who knows nothing is closer to the truth than he whose mind is filled with falsehoods and errors” are wise words from Thomas Jefferson (BrainyQuote.com). Thomas Jefferson was a well-known man who was, and still is, liked by many people today. Many people may remember Thomas Jefferson as the nation’s first Secretary of State, the third President of the United States, and one of our Founding Fathers. While some people may have known Thomas Jefferson to be a strong political man, others have known him to be a great religious man. Thomas Jefferson may be responsible for many contributions of the political world, but he is certainly not a stranger to the religious world either.
Without a doubt Thomas Jefferson’s explanation of how to break the law was a very insightful intake on how to properly break the law when the opportunity presents itself. When injustice is present it's the duty of man to stand up for their beliefs and fight for their rights. In order to combat the injustice of the British, Jefferson provided a list of grievances to the American citizens and told Americans that, it was their duty to break the law after asking for a peaceful compromise from the British. Jefferson specifically wrote, “When in course of human events , it becomes necessary for one people to dissolve political bands which have connected them with another, and to assume among the powers of Earth , the separate and equal station
•“She was not even listening. She had gotten tired of listening. She knew, as we all knew, what the outcome would be. A white man had been killed during a robbery, and thought two of the robbers had been killed on the spot, one had been captured, and he, too, would have to die” (4). This quote is important because it allows me to understand that Jefferson has to die because he was the only person in the liquor store and was a black man.
Thomas Jefferson as a man of contradictions Thomas Jefferson was a person who shared many interests and had a huge knowledge in many spheres of life. He was a writer, a musician, a lover, a pathfinder in archeology, a reluctant politician, an architect who designed his own house, and many more. No wonder that he was widely admired in the past and still is now, in the present times. He is the one who could find appropriate words and write America’s most important and known document “The Declaration of Independence”.
I believe in Jefferson’s quote, “If a nation expects to be ignorant and free, it expects what never was and never will be,” means that for a nation to be free and successful, the nation must consider their history and learn from it. Jefferson believed that common public schooling was necessary for democracy, because everyone should be educated enough to make decisions for their nation in which they lived in. Common schools made a major impact on democracy. For example, in the book School, it discussed how white and wealthy children were provided with a better education than poor and black children were. During that time, education was important and determined your potential job opportunities, so due to their finer education white and rich children
“When the people fear their government there is tyranny:When the government fears the people there is liberty”. This quote by Thomas Jefferson best describes the vision our Founding Fathers had for our country. This way of thinking led them to write the Declaration of Independence in protest of King George III tyrannical government. Our Forefathers borrowed from the teaching of an ancient Greek philosopher named Plato and his student Aristotle. They believed that a tyrannical form of government was the least likely to prevail because one person that has all of the power is more susceptible to making mistakes and abusing power.
