Nuclear fission, the process that takes place inside a nuclear power plant, actually produces 10 million times the amount of energy produced by fossil fuels. That’s more energy for less money! Nuclear energy has been used for more than just electricity as well. Its uses involve medical research equipment, industrial equipment, scientific neutron beams, and nuclear weapons. People say that nuclear energy is responsible for the atomic bomb and the hydrogen bomb which can wreak havoc on a large scale, like desolating a country, to a small scale, like altering DNA. The bombs dropped at Hiroshima and Nagasaki are still having effects today! Something people like that forget is that the atomic bomb was used under strenuating war circumstances, and has not been used since. America hopes to never have to use it again. Nuclear energy is also claimed to be dangerous because of the radiated waste it creates that then needs to be transported and stored. As long as the right precautions are taken this process is smooth and successful. The people who handle this are trained professionals, not some joe they pulled off the street, so there is nothing to be seriously concerned
