Nuclear energy doesn’t mean putting power into a crazy man’s bomb. Nuclear energy
means powering millions of people’s homes. Currently, nuclear energy powers twenty percent of
U.S. electricity. The power plants of American generate 797.1 billion kilowatts per hour. There
are thirty states within the U.S. that have operating nuclear reactors. The U.S. already has a well-
placed foothold on nuclear energy. I think the U.S. should switch to nuclear energy because it
would have lower operating costs, it would be more reliable, and it is better than fossil fuel. In
fact, there are ninety-nine operating nuclear reactors and more are planning to be built due to its
cheap cost.
Nuclear energy produces more energy, but at a less cost.

People are making sure that nuclear
energy stays in business due to its safety and security. Making it less dangerous than fossil fuels.
Nuclear energy does not cause environmental danger like fossil fuels do. The small
amount of nuclear energy needed to power a plant is laughable compared to what fossil fuels
requires, “…a pound of nuclear fuel carries about 1 million times the energy as a pound of fossil
fuel” (The Differences). This difference alone showcases which energy is better. Fossil fuels
depend on burning, “…a fossil-fueled power plant relies on the ancient technology of fire to
produce heat; such plants burn hydrocarbon fuels such as methane or pulverized coal” (The
Differences). This burning effect causes much of the greenhouse gases that are accused of
starting climate change. Nuclear energy avoids this altogether because it produces steam which is
not hurtful to the earth. “We conclude that nuclear energy…needs to be… significantly
