The through-line of action in this play was finding a solution. The reason for this is because Sonja assigned Aurora to a fake project to try and help Ilaan from having the bad dreams and to have her love Sonja again. The inciting incident was Ilaan being visited by her ex-lover; who she mentions is a witch, in dreams. She is so consumed by the witch and believes that they got married at a time that she is forgets her actual wife. Sonja loves Ilaan so much that she wants her to move on from ex-lover, Sonja believes that it is Aurora who Ilaan dreams about. In my mind, it seems like the playwright is showing the audience that even if things might not go the way it was planned or that people might not be happy with the results right in the moment, that there is always something to look forward to; and that’s how we should live life. This was something that pulled Sonja through the entire play; the reason for this is because she never stopped loving Ilaan despite her craziness, also the fact that Ilaan did leave her for another woman, she was able to look past that and understand what was going on in Ilaan’s life. I feel that Sonja knew it would be worth it in the end to continue to love Ilaan; all she wanted was Ilaan to be proud of her and to love her unconditionally. I believe that what Sonja did was successful because at the end of the play witch’s spell that was on Ilaan was broken and she came back to Sonja. The scene that I choose was when Ilaan had her suitcase in hand and her coat on; she was getting ready to leave Sonja for Karine. The unit of action for Sonja within this scene was as follows, Objective being commitment, action was to get Ilaan to choose her. One tactic that I noticed Sonja using on Ilaan was to beg, Sonja was crying and pleading to Ilaan to stay with her; that she needed Ilaan in her life. The other tactic that Sonja used was to guilt, Sonja was making Ilaan feel bad; she said how much she loved her and how much this was hurting
