The article “ Ali al- Nimr was a boy when thrown in Saudi Arabia prison. Now he’s a man , and is sentenced to die.” tells the story of 17 year old boy who fought for his freedom and was thrown in prison for 3 years. Just presently, he has been sentenced to death. I found this article to be very hard to read because i found it so awful that the government would do this to somebody, especially in this day and age. Ali was tortured numerous times and was only allowed to see his family for ten minutes a year for Eid al-Adha(Muslim holiday). Ali was only standing up for what he believed in and for the government to arrest him is a violation of human rights. This article really hit me because i am so respectful of how well Ali is handling this …show more content…

It's amazing how me calm and poised while others around him are extremely worried. People such as the British prime minister, david Cameron has told the Saudi Arabian government not to do it, also, hackers from the group anonymous have retaliated against the Saudi Arabian government. I didn't agree with this because lunch hour was supposed to be a time to converse with your friends about your day so far. One of my friends and I decided to talk to the lunchtime supervisor about the lunch rules. For giving our opinion and suggestions to the supervisor we were sent to the office. This specific situation helps me further understand this article because both are a violation of human rights, except Ali’s is extremely more severe. When my friend and I were sent to the office i thought the world was going to end. I have never before been sent to the office before and when I was sitting there I felt I should not have done what I have done. On the other hand, Ali has been sent to prison and sentenced to death for giving his opinion and he is still handling the situation with poise, in fact he says “I would rather die than stay in this place”. He would rather die knowing he has done something to help his country. In mine and Ali’s situation we were both giving our opinions and we should have the right to do so without getting in
