On August 6th and 9th of 1945, the United States brought World War II to an end with the dropping of the atomic bomb on Hiroshima and Nagasaki. The actions taken by President Harry Truman to use the atomic bomb on Japan, would leave it to become one of the most controversial issues in history. There exists a variety of perspectives on the dropping of the atomic bomb, but none compare with the perspectives of Paul Tibbets and Yoshikata Kawamoto. General Paul Tibbits was a pilot for the United States Airforce and he flew the B-29 plane that dropped the atomic bomb on Hiroshima. Whereas, Yoshikata Kawamoto was a thirteen year old boy who was at school in Hiroshima at the time of the bombing. Paul Tibbets and Yoshikata Kawamoto were from nations that were worlds apart and although there accounts of the events proceeding the 6th of August provide opposing insights to that day, there exists the raw reality that the two are not as different as first believed. Firstly, it could be viewed that Tibbets and Kawamoto were innocent victims found in a war that was not their own. Kawamoto was attending school, just like children all around the world and of all the victims involved in this attrocity, children like Kawamoto are the most innocent of them all. Similarly, General Tibberts was a military man following the orders given to him by his commanders, with no choices, no options, Tibberts understood himself that his actions were not his own and the same goes for the responsibility for these actions. “I made up my mind then that the morality of dropping
