To Be A Slave

To Be A Slave is about how it was like for the people in the 1600 throughout the 1800s. It is a bunch of different stories told by past slaves. There are different chapters of this book and they each have a theme. I don't think slavery is right because it's kinda like gay marriage. We are all equal and we should all be treated the same way. If we still had slavery then everything would be different, i wouldn't have my best friend, i would be fatter than i already am because i wouldn't be doing anything cause my maids would be doing it, see it's not right. In this story, you get to learn about how slavery was and just some of the things that the African Americans went through. If slavery never happened i think this world would be a whole lot better because there wouldn't be as many racist people and there wouldn't be as many boycotts because all the African Americans wouldn't be so protective and offended. If slavery never happened people wouldn't be so sensitive to things, most kids don't even wanna use the term “black” to describe the African American race. “Negro” is used as an insult even though it was normal back then. People call white people “white” and “cracker” but we don't take it like the African Americans would if we called them “negro”. If we had an all white people news channel, there would be boycotts and riots everywhere because it's not “fair”. There are black news channels but we can't really say anything because it's reverse racism. If the children of America don't even want to use the term “black” to describe the black race then that's when you know that racism has gone to far. I think everyone should read this book so that they understand how lucky they are to not have been an African American in the old days. I think that everyone should be aware of
