Good afternoon and welcome to Bulimba boys avo I am Ishan and tonight we will be looking deep in to the 1960 To kill a mocking bird. Written by Harper Lee the book she observed as a child in her hometown of Monroeville Alabama in the 1930’s not only sharing her life as a child but the story is also very inspiring. The plot of the story and characters are based on Harper Lee’s observations of her family and neighbours also on the event that occurred in her hometown when she was 10 years old. We will be focussing on one particular chapter of the book chapter 10 where Atticus shoots the infected dog.
In the novel Jem and Scout were exploring with their air riffles when they saw a dog walking down a street. The dog looked sick so they went to tell Capurnia the housekeeper. She called Atticus at work and then Atticus called the sheriff and they drove over to the house together to see the dog. When they got there they found out that the dog had rabies, sheriff told Atticus to shoot the dog before it hurts anyone, Atticus did not want to shoot because he had not shot a gun in 30 years but he did and shot the dog in one shot. …show more content…
