I wrote about the coming of age novel To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee. The theme that stuck out to me the most was destroying innocence. This paper will have an Expository Piece which will include my research on the literary criticism, historical context and the background of my author Harper Lee. Further down in my paper there are three genres that relate to the novel and show the main ideas and theme very uniquely. My first genre is Diary Entries which try to explain the feelings Scout might have had when many different things were going on in her life, My second genre is a Timeline which shows the events that happened in the book but they also show how they can be important to the book. Scout finds out Atticus is defending a negro from classmates.
Atticus shot the mad dog.
Jem and Scout go to read to Mrs. Dubose because Jem cut her flowers.
Mrs. Dubose dies some weeks later.
A mob threatens Atticus and Scout softens Mr. Cunningham.
Tom Robinson’s trial begins and a lot of people are there to watch.
Bob Ewell presents his statement on Tom.
Mayella testifies against Tom.
Tom testifies and Link Deas makes a declaration in Tom’s favor.
Atticus pleads to judge that Tom Robinson is indeed innocent.
The jury leaves to make the final decision.
It is pronounce that Tom Robinson is guilty.
Jem cries about unfairness of being guilty.
Atticus then pronounces that Tom is dead.
Jem and Atticus discuss execution of men that have raped woman.
Helen Robinson collapses.
Jem and Scout are attacked by Bob Ewell in the night.
Bob Ewell then begins to threaten Helen Robinson.
Scout figures out that Boo saved her and Jem.
Heck tried to save up the affair for Boo Radley.
Scout walks Boo Radley home.
