I have been a Girl Scout since I was five years old, and scouting has taught me the importance of giving back to the community. It is second nature in my world to participate in community outings and to provide those in need with necessities to survive and thrive. My troop hosted numerous events: collecting cans for food drives, providing supplies for shelters, making blankets for children’s hospitals, and distributing toiletries to soldiers. Girl Scouts was the primary foundation and inspiration that led me to volunteering at my local Kaiser Permanente Medical Center.
