Author of To Kill a Mockingbird, Harper Lee published the novel in 1960 and won a Pulitzer Prize for the novel in 1961. She also had Go Set a Watchman published in 2015, a book that shows later years in the life of the Finch family. The title, To Kill a Mockingbird, is stated in the book to be a sin because a mockingbird is innocent. However, in the 376 page novel, a mockingbird is never actually killed, and the term is actually a metaphor for how Tom Robinson, an innocent black man accused of rape, is found guilty due to prejudice and not actual evidence. This is because the entirety of the novel is set in the 1930s in the town of Maycomb.
