To Kill A Mockingbird shows racism during different times throughout the book. This includes when Atticus was telling Scout about the nicknames of the blacks in Maycomb. For he said, “nigger-lover is just one of those terms that don't mean anything --like snot nose. It's hard to explain -- ignorant, trashy people use it when they think somebody’s favoring negroes over and above themselve.”( ) which shows that it was normal to give such a name to a person.
