It may be difficult to help one understand the ways of life, but it does not mean they aren’t willing to learn. To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee is a coming-of-age novel that follows Jean Louise Finch, more commonly nicknamed Scout through the perils of her life, and discovering adult affairs and topics such as separation of race and class, rape, and even gender roles. Despite being the young age of six in the beginning of the novel, Scout tries to understand how life is the way it is, even with many conflicting views among the citizens of her town of Maycomb.
