“To Kill a Mockingbird” by Harper Lee highlights the importance of being a community and standing up for what’s right. This topic is still relevant in todays society because we see this with police brutality and racial profiling. The main theme of the novel is racism, which unfortunately is still shown in society today not as severe as the 1930s but the progress is slow. I think the 21st century has made a lot of progress, but as time moves on society as a whole has taken multiple steps back. They don’t eat up peoples gardens, don’t nest in corncribs, they don’t do one thing but sing their hearts out for us. That’s why it’s a sin to kill a mockingbird. ” This quote was incredibly meaningful because it relays the message of don’t hurt others unless you want to be hurt. Spread love and you shall receive love. Spread hate and you will receive hate.
Humans as a whole need to do better and the fact that this book is still relevant in todays society should be an awakening to people around the world that we should do better and stand up for your rights and others who may not have the fair chance to speak up when needed to, one step at a time. People stray away, which is weak, I think society has gotten weak minded everyone is sensitive about peoples posts. Most people who have a gaining and a popular platform are scared to speak their mind on issues such as human rights and tragedies because they are scared that they will loose a following and say the wrong thing but I think that influencers who have the space should use their audience for the greater
