It is never good to be judge a book by its cover. This is also applies to people. We cannot judge someone or know everything about a person just by looking at them. We do not know what they have been through, their struggles and life experiences. The novel, Speak written by Laurie H. Anderson, is about a girl name Melinda Sordino, who is a rape victim and a freshman in highschool.
"Character is doing the right thing when nobody 's looking. There are too many people who think that the only thing that 's right is to get by, and the only thing that 's wrong is to get caught", said JC Watts, an American politician. Yet many people seek opportunities to do what is right only when they think that someone else will view them favorably because of it; others conform to ideals they do not believe just so they can fit in with the group. A true hero is someone who always follows their morals, no matter what.
In the book To Kill a Mockingbird, Harper Lee reveals that when you understand other points of view yours can be broadened or changed. In the book, Harper Lee teaches us about understanding people's perspective through Scout and Atticus. Harper Lee explains this when scout is getting mad at her teacher, and Atticus told her, “You never understand a person unless you consider things from their point of view. Until you climb into his skin and walk around in it”(Lee 33).
Not every kid acts the same. Most of them act a certain way because of what an adult has taught them or an important life lessons they learned from them. Life lessons can impact one's beliefs and behavior. In To Kill A Mockingbird by Harper Lee, Scout, the 6 year old narrator’s beliefs and behavior was influenced by Atticus, Mrs. Dubose, and Miss Maudie by the lessons they taught her. Atticus taught her compassion and forgiveness, Mrs. Dubose showed what real courage is, and Miss Maudie taught Scout there is always light in darkness and explained why it was a sin to kill a mockingbird.
In the book “To Kill a Mockingbird” Harper Lee shows many examples of how characters can be differentiated in ways that distinguish as well as dictate their behavior. The town of Maycomb seemed to have many expectations of its citizens based on stereotypes. Maycomb was judgmental and inflexible in its views, trying to be something that it was not. In this world, no one lives a life without stereotypes, which is why Lee focuses heavily on this idea throughout the book. Three main characters in “To Kill a Mockingbird,” Calpurnia, Scout, and Boo Radley, are great examples of characters who often fit into but sometimes do not adhere to the codes of expected behavior.
“ It is a sin to kill a mockingbird . “ A mockingbird wouldn’t hurt anything . A black man is convinced of the crime of helping a white man . A character who was betrayed as a horrible figure most of the book was a harmless , selfless person . Many mockingbirds die in this book , and as in reality , it is often the innocent that suffer .
Luis Garcia once stated that “In the end, hurting a good person will only hurt you more when you realize not many genuine people exist. You just took a major loss” This is demonstrated in the novel To Kill a Mockingbird, where a brother and sister learn morals and equality in a town of prejudice and racism. The novel To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee demonstrates two characters that symbolize mockingbirds; Tom Robinson and Arthur “Boo” Radley. Harper Lee uses mockingbirds to describe someone who only does good for others.
In Harper Lee’s To Kill a Mockingbird, Scout is being peer pressured by Jem and Dill to join them in playing the “Boo Radley Game.” “Dill said, ‘Jem, you and me can play and Scout can watch if she’s scared.’ I was fairly sure Boo Radley was inside that house, but I couldn’t prove it, and felt it best to keep my mouth shut or I would be accused of believing in Hot Steams, phenomia I was immune to in the daytime.” (Lee 51)
The real world isn’t always how we want it to be. The people that are in it aren’t how we want them to be either. When we get older we realize that the world isn’t all flowers and rainbows. Jem from the book To Kill A Mockingbird by Harper Lee finds that out the hard way. Jem is the older brother to Scout the main character of the book.
