Tom Sawyer from The Adventures of Tom Sawyer and Moon Blake from Alabama Moon both have people or situations in their lives that act as healthy or unhealthy food. Both boys have areas of their lives that act as food in a similar capacity. First, in The Adventures of Tom Sawyer, Tom’s mischief and unruly part of life, is like unhealthy food because it is easy to start eating the food but it is hard to stop. This is like fighting or mischief because many people get into it but they can never get out of it. The quote, “Tom chased the traitor home, and thus found out where he lived...At last, the enemy’s mother appeared and called Tom a bad, vicious, vulgar child and ordered him away,” shows the unruly part of Tom’s life and how he doesn’t appear …show more content…

This is like the hard work Tom does because he doesn’t want to do it but it only helps him and his family. The quote, “Life to him seemed hollow, and existence but a burden...Bringing water from the town pump had always been hateful work in tom's eyes, ” shows how he hates doing the work (bringing water) but doing it helps him and his family. Also, in Alabama Moon, Moon Blake had to help take care of his father after he severely hurt himself. He only did what he did because his father told him to do so. In Alabama Moon, the author states, “When I got the boot off, bloody water and sand poured out of it...I only hesitated so that Pap would tell me what to do”.This shows how he doesn’t want to necessarily do it but he has to to help save his father. This is like eating healthy food because you don't necessarily want to eat it but you have to if you want to become healthy.
Evidently, both Moon Blake from Alabama Moon and Tom Sawyer from The Adventures of Tom Sawyer have similar areas of their lives that act as healthy or unhealthy food. Unhealthy food can take you down a path of life that is deceiving while healthy food can show you the truths and the faults in
