Looking At her best friend in the eyes as her neck gushes with blood from a knife cutting her throat. Krystal Surles was 10 years old when she had a sleepover at Katy Harris’s house they were best friends at the time. Katy had bunk beds in her room and she usually sleeps on the top bunk but Krystal wanted to so she let her. That night a man named Tommy Lynn Sells breaks into their house and goes into katie's room, by then Krystal is woken up by Tommy slitting her friends throat as she is sleeping in her bed. Krystal slowly moves back on her bed to hide but as tommy is leaving he sees her on the top bunk. When tommy and his sister Tammy sells were 18 months old they both came down with spinal meningitis which was fatal for his sister. After that he went to live with his aunt in a small town called holcomb, missouri. When sells was the age of five his aunt Bonnie Walpole showed interest in adopting tommy but never followed through. In his younger years he did not attend school very much and he was left home alone a lot by himself. By the age of 7 he was already drinking alcohol and getting in trouble in his small town of holcomb, missouri by the time tommy was 8 he was already molested by a older

On several occasions sells spent the night at this mans house. Later people discovered that he has been caught molesting boys but sells was not surprised at all since he was one of his victims when he was only 8. By then he has moved back in with his other siblings, his mother and his grandmother. At age 10 he has dropped out of school and started to smoke pot and he was all was into trouble. When tommy was 13 his family left him without telling where they went or if they would be back. At that point tommy knew he was on his own. After his family abandoned him he had no home and no family that made him filled with rage. His rage was so bad he attacked his first victim by pistol whipping her until she was unconscious. After that he started to drift to town to town picking odd jobs and stealing when he needed something. Sells claimed he committed his first murder at the age of 16, Sells broke into this man's house that was performing oral sex on a young boy. This was never fully proven if it was true or made up by Sells. “Sells also claimed to have shot and killed John Cade Sr. in July 1979, after Cade caught him burglarizing his home.”(paragraph 15).
